Local pressure groups say the fight isn't over to stop the latest development in Aylesbury Garden Town.
According to Bucks Council, Hampden Fields is a key part of Aylesbury’s planned growth. The Garden Town masterplan highlights the site as providing 3,000 new family homes, including up to 900 affordable homes.
The council go on to say the development will deliver significant new infrastructure, including the Southern Link Road, and approx. £72 million of facilities and financial contributions through the Section 106 agreement.
The new integrated community will also deliver two new primary schools, a new doctor’s surgery that will be capable of future expansion, employment land for up to 1,200 new jobs, over 109 hectares of green open space, sports and play facilities, allotments and community growing spaces.
But not everyone is on board with plans. Local residents have formed the Hampden Fields Action Group, who say 5,000 people have voiced their opposition to the development.
On their Facebook page, they say: "Bucks Council official report has confirmed they support plans for Hampen Fields against the wishes of over 5,000 people. Although this is disappointing it is entirely predictable and we already have our next moves planned."
