A41 CLOSED at Waddesdon

The road is set to be closed until the early hours of Tuesday (17/9/24) after HS2 workers dug into a gas pipe that now needs repairing.

The road had been closed over the weekend as part of HS2's continued work in the area. Motorists are being advised to allow plenty of time for journeys that use the A41 between Aylesbury and Waddesdon, and onto Bicester, with local county roads busy as a result of the closure.

Speaking to Bucks Radio, a spokesman for Stone and Waddesdon Council said;

"An emergency full road closure is being put in place currently following a strike on a gas pipe near our worksite next to the A41. We have no choice but to close the A41 immediately for safety reasons while we work with Southern Gas Network (SGN) to carry our repairs.

The closed section of road will be the same as it was last week, between the Fleet Marston Roundabout and Waddesdon. As such, traffic will revert to the diversion route already in place for last weekend’s closure. We are working to rectify the issue and reopen the road as quickly as possible. We will provide and further update as more details become available".

A spokesperson for HS2 Ltd said:

"An emergency road closure has been put in place to allow SGN to make repairs to a gas main alongside the A41 near Waddesdon. We're sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and we are working closely with them to get the road open as soon as it is safe to do so."
