Plans for another new film studios site in South Buckinghamshire have been put forward by a Chinese investor for a site near the M25.
As the public inquiry into Marlow Film Studios rumbles on, Buckinghamshire Council is now being asked to approve outline plans for another moviemaking hub on land to the west of Hollybush Lane, Tatling End, Denham.
London company UK Wealth Holdings Development, owned by Hong Kong-based Zhongfei Gu, wants to build up to 165,000 square metres of film production space, including sound stages, workshops, offices and a backlot on the former landfill site.
Education spaces, hotel accommodation, a retail area, an energy centre and 2,500 car parking spaces are also proposed.
Plans for the site read: “The Vision for Denham Film Campus is that it will be a globally-important, state-of-the-art studio facility.
“It will provide the optimal mix and critical mass of film production, education and support facilities for a leading film campus to thrive.”
Buildings will be a maximum of 25 high, according to the plans for the site, which is on the opposite side of the M25 and M40 junction to Pinewood Studios.
From the 1950s to the 1990s, the site was used for sand and gravel extraction to build the motorways and was later used for landfill.
Objections to the plans have been received, including from Hollybush Lane resident James Donaghy.
He said: “If this planning application gets approval the residents of Hollybush Lane will again, have to live through years of construction vehicles.”
