Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious injury road traffic collision, which occurred on the M40 northbound near to Denham.
At just after 9pm on Thursday (6/7), a black BMW 1 Series was travelling on the A40 northbound towards the M40 at junction 1.
The driver of the BMW has lost control within the junction and collided with the nearside barrier, causing the vehicle to ricochet across the carriageway into the central barrier before coming to a rest in the middle lane.
The BMW suffered catastrophic damage, causing the fuel and fluids to ignite.
All five occupants of the vehicle escaped before the fire took hold, but four of them have suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Two of the occupants have been discharged from hospital, but two rear-seat passengers remain there for further treatment.
Investigating officer PC Alistair Bennett of the Roads Policing Unit based at Amersham, said: “I am keen to hear from anybody who may have dash-cam footage of the collision, or the moments leading up to it.
“The vehicle has come from London on the A40 from Greenford and past Northolt towards the M40, and appears to have been a single vehicle involved.
“If anybody has dash-cam footage, this can be uploaded to our dedicated portal for this incident.
“I would also ask any witnesses to contact Thames Valley Police, either by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43230299542.”
