Aylesbury Police's advice for Halloween

The Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the Aylesbury Vale Local Police Area has been issuing advice and warnings for Halloween.

James Davies, Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the Aylesbury Vale Local Police Area, discusses policing Halloween below:

“Halloween is a real mixture of activities and my team enjoy working the evening but also find it challenging. We see parents with young children dressed up and responsibly trick or treating at houses that are clearly open to a visit. At the other end of the scale we often see groups of youths using the night as an excuse to create mischief.

“We see an increase in anti social behaviour in certain areas around the Vale and as a proactive response to this I have authorised dispersal orders under the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act which gives the police extra powers in a defined location to deal with individuals intent on causing issues in our community.

“My message this Halloween is to enjoy the evening sensibly, only knock on doors where it is obvious that you are welcome and to parents: do you know where your children are? My teams will be out across the Aylesbury Vale to keep our community safe this Halloween but we all need to do our bit”.

There will be extra officers and PCSOs on duty this Halloween, if you see something that concerns you then please contact 101 (non-emergency) or on 999 (if a crime is taking place or someone is at risk).

If you do not want people calling at your door on the night then they have posters that can be printed off at: https://orlo.uk/pKb9j
