Something Happened On The Way To Heaven

Aylesbury Youth Concern's mission to carry on helping our young people

The Aylesbury Youth Concern Charity is not letting the pandemic stop them from supporting and engaging with 13 -25 years in the area who may be struggling.

The charity knows how much the pandemic and various lockdowns may have affected young people in the area, Hannah from Youth Concern says: "COVID has been so difficult on our young people we are in touch with. Now one in six young people have a mental health condition, and people who may have been feeling anxious or depressed before, are feeling doubly so now."

The charity based in Aylesbury aims to provide:

  • emotional support or counselling
  • emergency accommodation / are at risk of homelessness
  • information about education, employment, housing, welfare, sexual health or addiction.

This is why members of Youth concern have set up alternative projects and support systems for young people, Hannah explains just one new way they have engaged with young people: "Two afternoons a week our youth workers go out into the streets of Aylesbury wearing a Youth Concern branded jacket. And absolutely brilliantly young people are crossing the street towards them to have a chat, they're liking seeing the youth workers again as its been a while since some of them have engaged and its just great to be out in the community."

You are still able to book a face to face appointment with a counsellor or youth worker (Tuesday-Friday midday-6pm),or request a food or care parcel, by calling 01296 431183, texting or WhatsApp 07470 833500 or by using the live chat .

And they still offer support remotely, and have set up a huge amount of activities and exciting events with social workers and support staff.
