Rob Bulter has spoken in parliament this week to argue the case for the Aylesbury Spur on the East West Rail Line.
As the 8th worst traffic congestion in the COUNTRY, Aylesbury funding for the promised rail link, which has not been delivered as planned, is a huge blow to the town.
In his case, Rob describes the traffic as a nightmare situation and the number one concern for residents. And as further 32,000 homes are to be built in the future, it will only get worse.
He goes onto explain, that while Aylesbury Vale does generally have good air quality, there are two locations where the nitrogen oxide levels exceed what are known as the objective levels, both on main routes into the town centre.
In reference to the construction of HS2, he also mentioned that the spur would let residents experience high speed train travel, instead of just watch it zip through their local landscape.
And argues that the Aylesbury spur would not require such devastation of disruption to the local area, as the line already existed, as he mentions it 'wouldn't need Florence the tunnel machine to growl its way beneath the chilterns.'
The spur would mean that the joinery from aylesbury to Milton Keynes, which is 20 miles as the crow flies, would only be 38 minutes long, as opposed to the current nearly 2 and a half hour journey, which requires 2 changes and a trip on the London underground.
