A campaign has been launched to help residents in the Waddesdon area to ‘beat the blues’.
The Bernwode Bus, known affectionately as Bernie, has been collecting goods from the villages around Waddesdon during the coronavirus pandemic to be given to the community food bank.
The volunteers who run the service have now put a call out for ‘self-care’ items to be donated, which will be distributed to those in need of a wellbeing boost over the next few weeks.
Things needed include:
- Packaging items (eg. boxes, tissue paper, shredded paper, stickers to decorate packages)
- Self care items (e.g. body lotion, shower gel, hand cream, bubble bath, shampoo, hair brushes and hair ties etc)
- Face masks (beauty or COVID)
- Scrunchies, lip balms
- Sweets or other snacks (e.g packets of raisins, pack of biscuits)
- Individual tea bags, coffee sachets, hot chocolate sachets
- Friendship bracelets or other jewellery items
- Men’s items (shower gel, face wash, shaving gel, aftershave)
- Plasters, bandages etc
- Antibacterial wipes
- Stress balls/ squishies/ fidget toys
- Soft toys (if these were to be sent out elsewhere, as well as locally, they would need to small in order to be posted).
Donations will be collected this Thursday from:
Waddesdon at the back of the Lion, the front of the Long Dog and E Johnsons in Frederick street;
Hayden Hill at the community centre;
Stone at the Methodist Church and Garage;
Pollicott at the end of the road;
Ashendon under the Bus stop;
Westcott under the bus stop;

The team say they will also be sharing posts on their Facebook page to help people who are suffering with mental health issues.
