Buckingham School implemented a brief precautionary lockdown just after 3pm today (19/03/25) following reports of a potential safeguarding risk outside of school grounds. The decision was made to ensure the safety and security of all students.
In a statement posted on social media, the school informed parents that they kept the students inside for approximately 15 minutes while they received confirmation that there was no ongoing risk. “We received reports of a potential significant safeguarding risk to our students outside of school,” the post read. “As a precaution, we kept our students in school for their own safety until we had received reassurance that there was no risk.” The school took the opportunity to praise the students for their response to the situation. “We would like to congratulate each and every one of our students, who behaved impeccably, remained calm, and followed all instructions immediately and safely,” the post continued. While there has been much speculation about the nature of the incident, the school declined to provide further details. A parent reached out to the school, asking, “Thanks for letting us know, and for your precautions. Are you allowed to say what happened? There are a lot of rumours circulating.” Bucks Radio has contacted the school for further comment.
