A new Town Centre trail to find ten Buckingham artist-decorated swan sculptures is soon to be unveiled!
Organised by Buckingham Town Council, the Buckingham Swan Trail is a free, fun, art sculpture event that features a bank of ten selfie-sized swan sculptures. The swans will be displayed across Buckingham’s well-loved landmarks, parks, and streets. The public is invited to take part in this family-friendly activity to find all the swans making the perfect day out this summer.
Since April, schoolchildren and artists have been busy decorating the swans into beautiful pieces of art for your enjoyment. The funding for the project came from a previous sculpture trail auction and Buckinghamshire Council’s Buckingham & Villages Community Board. The project has also been supported by local businesses, organisations and charities who have each sponsored a swan, making the trail deeply rooted to Buckingham.
The launch event is on Saturday 24th from 10am until 1pm which will take place outside the Town Council Chamber. The Swan HQ team will be on-site to promote the trail and there will be free face painting and children’s activities. The Town Crier and Deputy Town Mayor will say a few words and officially announce the live trail.
Buckingham Town Council hopes the art trail will attract both residents and visitors from far and wide to discover and re-discover the high street and support local businesses as well as providing the community with a free activity to enjoy this summer.
Chair of the Town Centre and Events Committee, Cllr Robin Stuchbury said “Committee members have been incredibly supportive of the Swan Trail, which builds on the success of the previous Otter Trail.
Such community event allows families to take part in an activity together, and importantly, it is a free event, available for all to enjoy".
