Buckinghamshire shines bright on The Nursing Times Workforce Awards shortlist

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is delighted to announce that three of its nominees have made it through to the shortlist for The Nursing Times Workforce Awards, which shines a light on those excelling in nurse recruitment and retention, wellbeing, and inclusion.

Finalists from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust include Asha Mathew who is shortlisted for Overseas Nurse of the Year, Joe Edmonds who is shortlisted for Practice Educator of the Year and the Trust’s Preceptorship Transformation Programme which is shortlisted for the Preceptorship Programme of the Year.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Service Lead in Haematology Asha Mathew was instrumental in supporting the recruitment of nurses from her home region or Kerala in India for the Trust, dedicated to helping them integrate and feel at home in the organisation.

By embracing virtual and augmented reality, Registered Nurse Joe Edmonds set a new standard for clinical training at the Trust. His initiative has improved patient outcomes and enhanced how staff learn and train for their roles.

The Preceptorship Programme at the Trust has transformed significantly over the past six years, resulting in a hybrid digital program tailored to the needs of

Trust employees at key moments during transitions in their careers.

Chief Nurse Karen Bonner said: “We are so proud of Asha, Joe and the Preceptorship Team and delighted that the Nursing Times Awards judges have recognised their hard work and dedication. We at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are proud of their achievements and I look forward to celebrating them at the award ceremony.”
