Bucks Council urge everyone to 'respect the water' this Summer

The extreme hot weather may have passed for now, but with Summer holidays just around the corner, Bucks Council are reminding everyone of the dangerous our local waterways can posses.

Young people drown every summer while they are taking a 'fun' dip with friends, and the Grand Union Canal have had its fair share of tragic incidents, this is why the council have issued the advice of Staying out of locks, not jumping from bridges, and not messing about by weirs.

They have also shared a poignant video by The Canal and River Trust, of how dangerous 'just a bit of fun' can be, view it here:

Dying to join in? #RespectTheWater

Teenagers drown every summer while they are taking a 'fun' dip with friends. Whilst it may seem tempting on a hot day, please don't get in the water. ❌ Stay out of locks ❌ Don't jump from bridges ❌ Don't mess about by weirs ✅ Find safe ways to cool down ✅ #RespectTheWater #BeWaterSafe ✅ Watch and share this film 🎥
