Bucks' Council has been notified of a cyber-attack on one of its healthcare suppliers.
NRS Healthcare, one of the largest providers of health and care products in the UK, says that there has been a breach of personal data.
The council says it is working with the company to understand the extent of the breach and will contact affected clients directly if their information has been taken.
It is not clear that this time what personal data has been taken. The council says that anybody whose information has been put at risk will be contacted directly.
They are advising Bucks residents to be extra cautious when opening emails, text messages or receiving phone calls that they aren’t expecting.
The council also says it has informed the Information Commissioners Office, the UK’s regulator for data rights.
In a statement from NRS on their website, they said that “on identifying the cyber security incident, all systems were immediately taken offline.
“The frequency and intensity of these cyber incidents is constantly increasing. NRS Healthcare takes the protection of its systems and data very seriously.”
