The MP for Buckingham, Greg Smith, has urged any constituents with family members in Ukraine to get in touch with the Home Office as soon as possible.
The MP says he has been assured by Ministers that the Foreign and Home Office are committed to supporting family members of British nationals in Ukraine.
This morning the people of Ukraine awoke to the sounds of war, as Russia invaded the European democratic country of 44 million people.
Moments before the invasion began, President Putin attempted to justify his actions on Russian TV by claiming that Ukraine had committed genocide in the Donbas region, a south eastern part of Ukraine. There is absolutely no evidence this is true.
The Russian President warned that anyone who tries to stop Russia would face "consequences that you have never faced in your history."
Ukraine was part of the old Soviet Union, but became an independent country in 1991 following the collapse of the eastern block after the Berlin Wall was brought down in November 1989.
In response to Russia's attack of Ukraine, the UK has introduced temporary visa concessions.
You can apply for a family migration visa for free if you're the family member of a British national who usually lives in Ukraine. Your British national family member must be one of the following:
· A spouse or civil partner
· An unmarried partner (you must have been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years)
· Your parent if you are under the age of 18
· Your child under the age of 18
· An adult relative you provide care for who lives with you due to a medical condition
You should contact UKVI before you make an application. Telephone: +44 300 3032785
