The Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Chief Nurse has been named a ‘Burdett Hero’ at an anniversary celebration event held earlier this week.
The Burdett Trust for Nursing, which was established in 2002, is an independent charitable trust named after Sir Henry Burdett KCB, the founder of the Royal National Pension Fund for Nurses.
Marking its 20th Anniversary on Wednesday 29th June, the Trust brought together special guests to honour representatives of projects the trust had funded over the last two decades.
Chief Nurse Karen Bonner was recognised for her work with HelpForce, who facilitate volunteer services, in supporting and enabling the development of a series of interventions that benefitted nurses, patients, families and volunteers.
Karen Bonner said: “I am very proud to be a Burdett Hero and am extremely grateful to them for supporting my work with HelpForce.
“Having spent more than 25 years in nursing roles, I have seen first-hand the vital benefits that volunteers can bring to patients and colleagues and am passionate about prioritising the power of volunteering across our community and acute healthcare settings.”
The Aylesbury Arm has been closed to navigation since mid-June due to low water levels, and now a Canal & River Trust spokesperson has confirmed to Bucks Radio, “Water is now being restored to this pound after an issue caused by interference with lock apparatus."
