They're providing residents with tips on how to keep your home safer string the lighter months.
Tips they have released so far are:
- Installing shutters, curtains or frosted glass in your windows, you can keep your home safer from potential burglars. They are a great way of keeping your home private as well as keeping your valuables hidden
- Lighting up dark areas of your garden with motion sensor lighting. Installing motion sensor lights can play a vital role in your home security, discouraging intruders from getting close to your property as well as providing a sense of safety and welcome as you return home.
- Helping to keep your front door secure by adding a lower level lock. Additional locks help to delay unwanted people gaining access to your home and drawing more attention to intruders.
- Keeping an eye on your neighbour's homes as well and report any suspicious activity.
Call 999 if there is a crime in progress or 101 for non emergencies.
