Wouldn't It Be Good

Bucks woman fundraising for vital cancer treatment

Clare Carter, from Buckingham, has just a few days left to hit her target as she battles stage 4 non hodgkins lymphoma.

The necessary treatment is funded 3 times by the NHS, but Clare now needs a fourth round. She needs to raise over £17,000 by October. You can read her story, and find a link to her Gofund me page, below.

Clare's story: In February, after a short stay in hospital and just a few weeks of symptoms, I was diagnosed with stage 4 non hodgkins lymphoma on my 44th birthday.

I had previously battled with this 24 years ago, whilst at university. Due to this my treatment this time has not been straight forward.

The original plan was I would have a round of chemotherapy, then radiotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant. The stem cell transplant is needed to fully wipe out the cancer and without the stem cell transplant, the cancer is very likely to reoccur quickly.

The stem cell transplant requires a collection of my own cells and had this back in July. Unfortunately the cells collected were very close to the required amount, but did we not reach the required resh hold to allow the transplant to proceed.

Due to the effect of treatment special injections are needed to allow cells to be collected. Sadly the NHS pays for three only which I've had. I now need to raise £17,280 by October so I can have a second collection to strive for a cure of this cancer.
