Busy Aylesbury surgery announces new appointment system

The Poplar Grove Practice is planning a new way for patients to book consultations or make general enquires.

It comes after patients say they have struggled to make bookings using the current phone system. The Practice, on Meadow Way, Aylesbury, has issued this update:

We have listened and understood the challenges our patients are facing accessing the surgery. The long telephone queues and the 8am rush for appointments needs to change, and we are fully committed to making this happen

From the 1st April 2025 you will be able to complete an online form via our website to submit your request for either an appointment or general enquiry. Our Navigation Team will clinically triage each request, with those most urgent prioritised.

Patients can still phone or visit the surgery in the normal way, and a member of our team will complete the on-line triage form on your behalf. This will ensure patients not digitally connected will still be able to access the surgery in their preferred way. Once the online request has been triaged, you will be contacted with either an appointment or information on the service most appropriate for your needs.

Ask-First will be decommissioned from 1st Feb 2025. However, in place of ask-First, from February, you will be able to book appointments for Cervical Smears, NHS Health checks, Flu, RSV and Shingles vaccines via the NHS App or Patient Access. Unfortunately, the ability to book GP appointments will not be available through the NHS App or patient access once ask-First has been discontinued.

This is a huge and exciting system change for the staff and our patients at Poplar Grove, and we will be working hard over the next couple of months to be ready for the 1st April launch. We will be providing regular updates and Q&As via our website and Facebook page. We will also be writing to all patients who do not have text or emails prior to the 1st April to keep them informed of these exciting changes.
