Calls for HS2 to be scrapped as delays announced

Parts of the HS2 rail project are being pushed back, meaning construction to central London and north of Birmingham will be delayed.

Business leaders are disappointed - saying it'll harm economic growth.

Chesham and Amersham MP Sarah Green has called for the scheme to be scrabbed to combat spiralling costs.

Meanwhile, Buckingham MP Greg Smith has said he believes it's time for a radical rethink.

Construction of the project's first phase is well underway locally with the tunnel boring machines creating the Chiltern Tunnel reaching their halfway point in February.
