Conservative Leader Launches Local Elections Campaign here in Bucks

'Lower Taxes, Better Services' is the Conservatives slogan for the May 1st Local Council elections, as Tory leader Kemi Badenoch, launches their campaign right here in Buckinghamshire.

The Conservative Party has officially launched its local election campaign, with Leader Kemi Badenoch making her pitch to voters. Speaking in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, Badenoch vowed that Conservative-led councils would deliver lower taxes and better services.

In a clear warning to Reform UK, the party challenging the Tories for votes on the right, she took a swipe at its politicians, saying they have "never run anything."

Badenoch also acknowledged the challenge her party faces, admitting that the Conservatives are likely to lose seats in the upcoming local elections on May 1.

With the campaign now underway, all eyes are on how the battle for local council seats will unfold.

Tory Bucks Council Leader, Martin Tett, hoping to remain a Conservative Council after May 1st.

Martin Tett, leader of the Conservative-led Buckinghamshire Council, has emphasized the importance of a strong Conservative presence in local government as the party rebuilds nationally. Speaking ahead of the May 1 local elections, Tett highlighted the success of recent by-elections as evidence that the party can and will continue to win. Under Kemi Badenoch’s leadership, he said, Conservatives have been delivering value for money and essential services while staying true to their core principles of lower taxes and better governance. Tett stressed that serving residents—not personal or political gain—is at the heart of Conservative values.

He also warned against Labour’s policies, criticizing their approach to education and planning, which he argued strips local communities of their voice. Tett positioned the Conservative Party as the defender of aspiration, opportunity, and the protection of Buckinghamshire’s countryside against what he called the “excesses” of Labour governance. He reiterated that strong local government is not only essential for serving communities effectively but also acts as a launchpad for national electoral success. By standing for communities, fiscal responsibility, and high-quality services, he concluded, the Conservatives remain the best choice in the upcoming local elections.
