Engineering works close much of Chiltern MainLine for the weekend

Engineering works on the MainLine are going to mean more passengers on the Amersham route, heading for stations with rail replacement buses.

We’re being asked not to take the train unless it’s really necessary in Buckinghamshire this weekend.

Much of the Chiltern MainLine is closed for engineering works, meaning lots of rail replacement bus services to serve Wycombe, Risborough, Bicester and beyond.

It means the Amersham line will be busier.

The railway will be closed between Wembley Stadium and High Wycombe, and also between Princes Risborough and Leamington Spa all day.

There will be no through trains between Marylebone and Gerrards Cross/Beaconsfield/High Wycombe, nor between Marylebone and Bicester Village/Oxford, nor between Marylebone and Birmingham.

Passengers may need to travel via alternative routes, use other operator's services and/or on rail replacement buses. Most journey times will be considerably longer than usual.

A limited train service will operate on the following route sections:

  • Marylebone - stations to Aylesbury Vale Parkway (via Amersham).
  • Princes Risborough - stations to Aylesbury.
  • Bicester Village - stations to Oxford.
  • Leamington Spa - stations to Birmingham Moor Street.
  • Leamington Spa - stations to Stratford Upon Avon.

Rail replacement buses will operate as follows:

  • Aylesbury Vale Parkway - Bicester Village.
  • Aylesbury Vale Parkway - Bicester North - Banbury - Leamington Spa.
  • Hillingdon (LU) - Denham - Gerrards Cross - Beaconsfield - High Wycombe - Saunderton - Princes Risborough - Haddenham & Thame Parkway - Bicester North.
  • Aylesbury - Haddenham & Thame Parkway (scheduled Arriva 280 service).
  • High Wycombe - Amersham.
  • West Ruislip - Hillingdon (LU).

Passengers travelling between London, Bicester Village, Oxford, Banbury and stations to Birmingham should travel via Aylesbury Vale Parkway.
