Florence Nightingale Hospice brings Christmas to its patients

Florence Nightingale Hospice’s Day Hospice team have been on the road this week to bring Christmas to their patients.

With the Omnicrom strain on the rise, their regular Day Hospice sessions at the Hospice building at Stoke Mandeville Hospital have been paused, because of this patients missed their full Christmas lunch including turkey and all the trimmings, wine, crackers, and decorations and enjoy festive entertainment, fun and games with staff and volunteers.

However, not to be deterred, the dedicated team did not want them to miss out entirely so took to the road with goody bags to pay door step visits.

Tracey Batt, Day Hospice Team Leader/IPU Ward Sister (interim) said:

“Our first priority is the safety and welfare of all our patients, both at Day Hospice and those in the same building, in the In-Patient Unit, so the decision has been made to pause our regular Day Hospice sessions for the time being. Whilst we will continue to support our patients with regular telephone contact, it is just not the same as face to face interaction. Our annual Christmas parties are much anticipated so we have been out and about today, and will be again next week, to see all our regular patients to spread some Christmas cheer!”

The service is fully funded by Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity, to find out more, or donate, visit:https://www.fnhospice.org.uk/help-us/donate/
