Aylesbury United and Bucks Fire and Rescue Service are teaming up in support of the White Ribbon Campaign.
A special event at the first team home match versus Welwyn Garden City on Saturday, December 14th will encourage men to hold themselves accountable to women and to each other. The event gets underway at 2pm, with kick off at 3pm at Chesham's Meadow.
Both the football club and the fire service are united in promoting respect, equality, and safety, encouraging everyone to take the White Ribbon Promise; Never to commit, excuse, or remain silent about violence.
Dave Brown, marketing director at Aylesbury United, said: “We hope as many of our supporters as possible will stand with the club and take the White Ribbon promise as we raise awareness of the role men have to stop violence against women and girls.”
Adam Burch, Group Commander of Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The White Ribbon promise is about taking a stand and committing to prevent violence against women and girls. By pledging to never commit, excuse, or remain silent about violence, we can create real change. Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is proud to stand with Aylesbury United, encouraging men to be allies and champions for a safer community.”
In the UK, 1 in 4 women will face domestic abuse, and 1 in 3 will experience some form of violence. These numbers highlight the urgent need for change.
