The McNichol family is reaching out to their community and the public for help in raising funds for life-saving brain surgery for their 5-year-old daughter, Malorie.
Malorie, a bright and joyful little girl, has been suffering from a rare and life-threatening condition: a 16mm pineal gland cyst. Despite enduring years of intense medical challenges, her family remains hopeful that a high-risk surgery, performed by one of only six neurosurgeons worldwide capable of such an operation, can offer her a chance at a normal life.
Since she was just five months old, Malorie's parents have watched their daughter battle with severe symptoms, including constant vomiting, dizziness, and even worsening vision issues. Hospital stays have become a regular part of their lives, with each visit a reminder of how precious and fragile Malorie's health truly is.
This past year, Malorie’s condition has worsened, with new symptoms emerging. “The emotional toll on our family has been overwhelming,” said her mother. “We’ve watched her struggle, and we’ve fought alongside her every step of the way. But seeing her smile and sing, even through all of this, keeps us going.”
Unfortunately, just as the family was given hope for surgery, a recent article on pineal gland cysts led to the suspension of related surgeries across the UK, leaving Malorie's doctors unable to perform the procedure she desperately needs. As a result, the family has now turned to surgeons abroad who are capable of performing the operation but require significant financial resources.
“We won’t give up on Malorie,” said her father. “There are surgeons who can help, and we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure she has the chance to live without constant pain.”
The McNichol family is now raising funds to cover the cost of Malorie's life-saving surgery abroad. The family hopes that through the generosity of the community, they can provide Malorie with a future where she can play, go to school, and live without the constant fear of illness.
No donation is too small, and the family is asking for support in any way possible. "Your prayers and donations mean the world to us," said her mother. "With your help, Malorie can have a future filled with the joy she deserves."
