Did you know hedgehogs roam between 1-2km each night during their active season? A 13cm x 13cm hole in your garden wall or fence will let hedgehogs through but will be too small for most pets.
This is called a hedgehog highway, and it allows hedgehogs to forage for food, meet mates to breed and access nesting sites. This is essential in the battle to prevent the extinction of our endangered spiky friends.
You can purchase a hedgehog highway surround for your wall or fence from the Town Hall, 5 Church Street (Monday to Thursday, 10am-3pm).
They cost £5 each if you’re collecting from the Town Hall. If you’d like your highway surround to be delivered to you, there is a £1.50 delivery charge.
Call 01296 425678 or email info@aylesburytowncouncil.gov.uk to arrange purchase before visiting the Town Hall.
Money from each sale will go towards a community/hedgehog project.
