Alastair McIver's book, based in a remote, central Asian republic, is a political conspiracy thriller which follows a fearless rookie journalist who knows no limits in her quest to expose corruption and injustice at the highest levels of government.
Alastair says, “I have been privileged to visit central Asia on several occasions, and the cultural and political challenges I encountered there left a lasting impression on me and - I think and hope - enabled me to bring a vivid authenticity to the narrative.”
The book was prompted by a conversation he had with a British Member of Parliament on one of their trips together.
“I took a couple of MPs to the region and was privileged to be able to sit in on one of their meetings with their central Asian counterparts. It was a combination of being able to observe those meetings, coupled with visiting charity projects for the homeless, the hungry, the thirsty and the trafficked, not to mention the domestically abused, that, encouraged by one of the parliamentarians, made me want to craft this fictional story based on factual content.”
With twists and turns that keep readers guessing to the very last page, Alastair’s novel combines suspense, drama, and the relentless pursuit of truth. The nail biting narrative will keep you guessing until its final page, its conclusion as surprising as the journey which takes you there.
