IOPC to investigate fatal incident in Aylesbury

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the circumstances of a fatal collision near Aylesbury involving a Thames Valley Police (TVP) vehicle and a 27-year-old woman.

Kimberley Cameron, who was on foot, was confirmed dead at the scene following the collision on the A41 Bicester Road at around 5.50pm on Friday (April 16).

Investigators have established it happened while officers from TVP were responding to a road traffic incident which had caused a queue of vehicles on the A41.

IOPC Regional Director Graham Beesley said: “Our thoughts are with Kimberley’s family and friends, and all those affected by this tragic incident.

“We have met her family to explain our role and how our investigation will progress.

“We are at an early stage of our investigation, have gathered initial accounts from the officers involved and witnesses at the scene and started to review the officers’ body-worn video footage.

“There is a mandatory requirement for forces to refer to us incidents like this which result in death or serious injury.

“Our investigation will thoroughly examine the circumstances and whether appropriate policies and procedures were followed.”
