A 26-year-old man has been jailed for two and half years following an assault and a spate of burglaries across Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire.
Patrick Nevin, from, Dunstable, received the sentence at Luton Crown Court on Friday 26th August after pleading guilty to three counts of burglary, one count of theft and one count of assault.
On 12th May, 2020, Mr Nevin burgled a Cooperative store in Chalfont St Peter, stealing £2,000 worth of cigarettes.
Just over a year later, on 18th May 2021, Mr Nevin went to a property in Reeves Croft, Milton Keynes to purchase mobile phones that had been advertised online.
As Mr Nevin and the victim were negotiating a deal, Mr Nevin suddenly entered the house uninvited, grabbed two mobile phones, pushed the victim and ran off.
Mr Nevin then got into a vehicle to flee the scene but the victim jumped into the boot of the car which had been left open.
The vehicle stopped and Mr Nevin got out and assaulted the victim, before finally making off.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Sebastian Kuzoe, based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “This was a violent crime that left the victim with injuries needing hospital attendance.
“Thames Valley Police will continue to deal robustly with criminals who put our communities at risk and actively seek their prosecution.
“I hope Mr Nevin uses his time in prison to reflect on the consequences of his actions”.
