Man jailed for strangulation and assault in Stokenchurch

A man has been sentenced after he was convicted of assault and intentional strangulation in Stokenchurch.

Michael Bushay, aged 20, of HMP Bullingdon, was jailed for one year and two months following a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday (27/9). He was also made subject to a five year restraining order against the victim.

Bushay pleaded guilty to one count each of assault by beating and intentional strangulation at a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates Court on 3 May.

At around 10.30pm on 1 May this year, Bushay assaulted and strangled a woman on Mill Road, causing injuries to her.

Bushay was arrested the same day and was charged on 3 May.

Investigating officer PC George Ward said: “This was a violent and distressing incident of violence which occurred in a public place.

“During the investigation Bushay has shown no true remorse for his actions.

“I am pleased that Bushay has been jailed and I hope the result demonstrates that violence against women and girls will not be tolerated and Thames Valley Police will always look to bring offenders to justice.

“If you are a victim, or suspect someone is a victim of crime, please contact the force. We have specialist trained officers who will listen and support you.
