A man has been sentenced for three incidents of assault in Beaconsfield.

Cameron Britnell, aged 20, of Oakwood, Flackwell Heath, pleaded guilty to three counts of assault by beating in a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

He was subsequently sentenced to a Community Order and must complete 135 hours of unpaid work.

On 20 August 2022 at around 10.30pm, Britnell engaged in an argument with two unknown members of the public at the Hope & Champion Pub at Beaconsfield Service Station.

Staff asked him to leave the premises due to his aggressive behaviour.

After repeated requests for him to leave, Britnell ignored the instructions and assaulted three different members of staff.

The victims did not sustain any injuries.

Police were called and Britnell was arrested. During the arrest, Britnell was uncompliant and violent and assaulted a police officer, for which he received a separate sentence of 135 hours of unpaid work in a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on 6 January 2023.

Britnell was charged with the three further counts of assault by beating via a postal requisition on 17 January 2023.

Investigating officer PC George Ward from the Incident & Crime Response Team, based at Amersham police station, said: “I am satisfied that this case has now concluded and the court has passed sentence.

“This was a wholly unnecessary incident involving a series of assaults at a licenced premises against members of staff.

“During the initial investigation, Britnell was also given numerous opportunities to assist in providing details of the two individuals he had previously been seen arguing with, but refused to co-operate and provide any information.

“Thames Valley Police takes all assaults seriously and where the evidence is available, we will always seek to bring offenders before the courts.

“Britnell now has a criminal record for a set of circumstances which were of his own making.

“I hope that he reflects on his behaviour and there is no further repeat of such offending in the future.”
