A much loved village pub saw its last day of trading yesterday.
The Long Dog in Waddesdon, who's owners had been at the pub since 2008, released a statement on social media that they will be closing their doors.
It reads:
'AND IT’S GOODNIGHT FROM US…
we will miss seeing your faces….
Sadly it is with regret to announce The Long Dog is closing its doors this week.
'It has been the hardest decision we have ever had to make, we will leave behind lots of good friends and memories.
'Al purchased The Bell in 2008 and transformed it into a warm and welcoming family free-house. Our aim was to create a venue for great food, for all people and all occasions and over the years we have had much success, with a special mention for The Waddesdon Jazz Club! It must have been running every two weeks for over 10 years! With world class musicians and a reliable crowd, let’s hope its not long before it starts again! Thanks Steve and Mim!
'We would like to thank ALL of our lovely customers from over the years who have supported us! And ALL of our fantastic staff who have been part of the team, watching them grow and fly the nest has been our privilege. Thank you!
'Rocky the original long dog inspired the name change, he was such a character around the place and transformed us into such a welcoming doggie pub. Piggy will miss lounging in front of the fire and welcoming (barking) all of our guests. We have loved our new social fortnightly dog walking group and hope it continues.
'be happy and love one another
Al, Leo, Rex & Piggy'
