Buckinghamshire Council has launched a new campaign asking people to provide a loving home for children in the council's care who are waiting for adoption.
Called ‘Help Them Shine’ the scheme is especially focused on children whose circumstances mean that they often have to wait longer to find their new family. This could be, for example, because they are older children or because there are multiple siblings who need to remain together.
You can adopt as a couple or as a single person. All that's required is that you can provide a child (or children) with a stable, committed, and loving family that understands their needs.
Anita Cranmer, Buckinghamshire Council's Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said: "These children in our care that wait longer to find a loving family have so much potential, and although they may have had a difficult start, they have their lives before them. They are waiting to find the right family so that they can grow and flourish. Could you be that family?
"Although it is incredibly rewarding, being a parent has its challenges too, which is why Buckinghamshire Council's Adoption Service provides post-adoption support that will always be there for you.
"If you feel that you can give these children their new family life and Help Them Shine, don't hesitate to find out more about how you can start your adoption journey."
