New 'Cressex' Roundabout in High Wycombe

It's all systems go for for the newly improved junction at Crest Road in High Wycombe.

With most of the major work completed, including the switch-on and testing of the intelligent traffic lights and brand new road surfacing, the junction has opened and giving full access to nearby businesses and retailers say Buckinghamshire Council.

Looking to the future, the new junction layout will also help unlock additional commercial and retail development on the adjacent 'Cressex Island' site, further boosting the local economy and creating more jobs.

Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member for Transport, Steven Broadbent said that given the busy location, the scheme needed careful planning to minimise disruption for local people and businesses.

"We've really appreciated everyone's patience and understanding while we've been delivering this scheme. It's not been easy, but the bulk of the work has now been done and the junction open for business.

"Now that the traffic lights are on, we will continue to carry out careful monitoring of how things are performing so we can get the best traffic flow possible, particularly at peak times."

Steven added:

"What we now have is a vastly improved junction, brand new road surfacing and a shared use footway and cycleway - a fitting investment for the future in this area of the town."

Engineers will remain on site for the next few weeks completing the final elements of the scheme before the junction officially opens in September.
