Bookings are now open for the spring Covid-19 vaccination.
Those eligible for this year’s spring jab include: adults aged 75 years and over, residents in care homes for older adults, anyone aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system who is at greater risk from severe illness.
During the spring campaign, the vaccine will be available at local GP practices and pharmacies from 1 April to 17 June 2025. You can book a vaccine appointment via the NHS.UK website (external link) or by calling 119 for free.
There are also Covid-19 vaccination walk-in clinics being held across Buckinghamshire as part of the spring campaign – more details here (external link)
Rachael Corser, chief nursing officer at NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire West Integrated Care Board, said: “The vaccine helps provide protection against the Covid virus and helps reduce the risk of catching and spreading the illness, or being hospitalised.
“Previous immunity from the virus can wane so it is important for those who are at higher risk to top up their protection. Evidence shows those who have received a Covid jab are 40 per cent less likely to be admitted to hospital with the virus in the following two months.”
Rachael said: “We urge patients who are eligible to book their appointment and get their spring jab without delay to help keep them well.”
Local NHS teams have been working to make it as easy as possible for people to get the vaccine closer to home, as well as organising visits to older adult care homes and eligible housebound patients. For people who receive all their care at home, a home visit should be arranged via their GP.
The NHS is sending texts, emails, NHS App messages or letters to those who are eligible, but they do not have to wait for the invite to book.
