Plans for modern new housing in Beaconsfield put forward

Thursday, 29 August 2024 13:00

By Charlie Smith - Local Democracy Reporter

Plans to build a terrace of modern new housing in Beaconsfield have been submitted to Buckinghamshire Council.

Applicant Common Good Architects plans to demolish the existing cottage, garage and other structures at 25 Stratton Road.

If its plans are approved, it will then build three six-bedroom townhouses with ‘highly insulated walls, floors, and roofs’, air source heat pumps and solar panels.

In a statement, the applicant said: “We propose the demolition of the outdated existing cottage and the erection of a two-storey new building of three town houses that meets the needs of today’s living and produces a highly thermally efficient and sustainable structure.

“This new build will encompass three distinct houses within the appearance of one large house, seamlessly blending multiple residences into a cohesive and harmonious architectural design.”

The company, which has an existing permission to develop the site, says the existing detached 1960s ‘Arts and Crafts’ house at 25 Stratton Road must be replaced.

Its plans state: “Despite its architectural appeal and functional layout, the house has been vacant for over five years.

“During this period of disuse, it has fallen into a state of disrepair and now requires significant upgrading to restore it to its former glory.”

Common Good Architects said that on the first floor of each home there will be four big bedrooms, with a further two on the second floor.

Floorplans show a cinema, gym and terrace on the lower ground floor as well as a library on the ground floor.
