Police warn of rise in motorhome thefts in Aylesbury Vale

The increase in thefts seem to be in rural locations across the area. The police have issued some tips on how to keep your motorhome safer:

"• Is there a tracker on your Motorhome? If not, consider getting one installed as this helps us locate it if it is stolen. In the event that thieves remove it, it gives us an indication which direction they went in and we can do relevant enquiries around that location.
• If your Motorhome is parked on your driveway, please consider installing a “Driveway Post/bollard”. This acts as a visual deterrent.
• Use a good quality wheel clamp.
• Is it parked in a well-lit area with CCTV? CCTV is a deterrent for thieves.
• Ensure all the windows and doors are locked and secure.
• Do not leave valuable items inside.
• Ensure the keys are kept in a secure location.
• Etch the registration number somewhere that is hidden in the Motorhome.
• Mark all valuable items which need to be left in there by either etching them with your postcode or by using a UV or permanent marker.
• Use a steering lock on the steering wheel.
• Does it have an Immobiliser?
• Consider a wireless Motorhome alarm.
If you notice anything suspicious, please contact us via either 101 or 999.
