Staff from Stoke Mandeville Combined School will be joining Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity’s annual Midnight Walk this weekend in memory of teaching assistant Debbie Morgan.
The team of ten, including Headteacher Mrs Stewart, will be walking through the night for their colleague, who was cared for by the Hospice earlier this year.
The school will also be hosting the second pitstop on the walk for the first time, offering rest and refreshments for walkers on the ten-mile route.
Mrs Stewart said: “Debbie was such a special part of our team, and had worked at the school for seventeen years. She was the key instigator behind the school supporting the charity at their Tree of Light events and had organised teams for the Midnight Walk in previous years, in memory of another teaching assistant, Mrs Kendall.”
“When we were asked if we could host the pitstop we didn’t need to give it a second thought. We had already decided to take part in the event and this was just another way we could show our support for the work of the Hospice in our local community.”
The team are on track to reach their target of raising £1,000 – you can support them at https://www.justgiving.com/team/StokeMandevilleCombinedSchool
There is still time to be part of the Midnight Walk, which starts at midnight on Saturday 16th July. Online booking for the event closes at midnight on Wednesday 13th July or you can register from 10pm at the event on 16th July at Aylesbury College.
