Chiltern Railways is urging customers travelling between London Marylebone and Aylesbury via Amersham to check their journeys while urgent repairs to the railway are carried out following a landslip.
Since Tuesday 27 February, trains have only been able to run northbound towards Aylesbury, with the landslip forcing one line to close.
From Friday 1 March, for Network Rail to urgently complete the repairs, no services between London Marylebone and Aylesbury via Amersham will run. This disruption is expected to continue until the start of service on Tuesday 5 March.
This means that trains between Aylesbury and London are running via Princes Risborough and High Wycombe, and will not call at any stations from Stoke Mandeville through to Harrow-on-the Hill. Customers travelling between Aylesbury and London should take the trains diverting via this route.
For other affected stations, a rail replacement bus service will be in operation between Aylesbury and Amersham for onward travel. Ticket acceptance is in place on TfL Metropolitan Line services to and from Baker Street.
Ahead of the repairs taking place, Network Rail will be liaising with local residents to ensure they are aware of the works taking place and any short-term noise disruption that might arise.
Customers should check ahead before they travel, and can keep up to date with updates on the closure by visiting https://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/service-disruption-repairs-track-stoke-mandeville-area.
Tony Baxter, Operations Director at Chiltern Railways, said: "We're sorry that customers between Aylesbury, Amersham and London Marylebone are being affected while Network Rail undertake urgent repairs to the railway.
"While the embankment is urgently repaired, no Chiltern services will run between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Amersham from Friday 1 March until Tuesday 5 March.
"A rail replacement bus service will be in operation between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham while the line is closed. Ticket acceptance has been arranged for TfL services between Amersham and Baker Street. Customers at Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway are still able to travel by rail to/from London via High Wycombe.
"Affected customers should check ahead before they travel.
"We'd like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while we work to keep people moving and reopen the railway."
