Woodlands: Developments for Aylesbury announced

Next steps towards the development of the Woodlands site have been agreed upon.

Buckinghamshire Council's Cabinet agreed to take the next major steps towards developing the Woodlands site in Aylesbury -  a big project that will bring new homes, schools, sports and leisure facilities, healthcare services, and job opportunities to the community. This project is designed to support Aylesbury's growth and make the area a better place to live.

A critical part of the Woodlands development is the building of the Eastern Link Road (South). This road will not only help with the Woodlands development but will also be a major part of the relief road system for Aylesbury which will take traffic out of the town centre, ease congestion and make it much easier to travel in and around the town.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Martin Tett said:

"Even though we are facing challenges like inflation and rising costs, the Council is committed to making this project happen. We have secured over £24m of external funding through the previous Government's Housing Infrastructure Fund and Local Growth Fund to help build the road. Today's decision takes us a step closer to securing a development partner to help us complete this important project and Buckinghamshire Council will enter into a funding agreement with the Developer to deliver the road as soon as possible."

The Council will keep the community updated on the progress of this initiative and further announcements will follow once the agreements are signed.
