Bucks residents are being encouraged to donate pre-loved books to a local initiative that turns stories into life-saving medical equipment.
The book donation drive, spearheaded by the Scannappeal charity, supports the NHS hospitals in Wycombe, Amersham, and Stoke Mandeville. They’re collecting quality adult fiction, crime novels, and children's books, which will be sold in hospital bookshops to raise funds. All proceeds go toward purchasing cutting-edge medical equipment for the hospitals, helping to enhance patient care and save lives.
Amersham Hospital Bookshop: Second floor, Amersham Hospital (Mon-Fri 9:30 am - 3:30 pm)
Wycombe Hospital Bookshop: Ground floor, main reception (Mon-Sun 8 am - 7 pm)
Stoke Mandeville Hospital Bookshop: Main building, next to the Oasis Café (Mon-Fri 9:30 am - 3 pm)
Scannappeal provides critical support to local healthcare facilities. "Every book donated brings us closer to acquiring the revolutionary equipment that our hospitals need," said a Scannappeal spokesperson. "We're incredibly grateful to the community for their ongoing support."
If you’re interested but unable to drop off books in person, further information is available by emailing bht.info.scannappeal@nhs.net or by calling 01494 734161
